Job Summary
Analyzes and
develops software systems to meet current and future program needs. Works with
end users in the development and maintenance of computer application systems.
Scope
This position works
in the area of information technology and possesses a working knowledge of the
interrelationships of District systems.
Work contacts include users, administrators, staff and interns. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment and a variety of computer hardware and software.
Supervision
Received
This position
reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding
routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine
and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision
Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may direct the work of other staff on a project-by-project
basis.
Representative
Duties
Analyzes, designs,
implements and maintains institutional
management systems and
corresponding procedures; consults with users to define needs and problems;
works with users to collect specifications and data; recommends alternatives to
meet objectives; performs and carries system through to completion and user
satisfaction; monitors system de‑bugging and testing; prepares and
modifies documentation; analyzes and prepares reports; may provide technical
support to users; may make oral and written presentations; performs related
duties as assigned.
Knowledge and
Abilities
Knowledge of: software analysis, design and
maintenance; methods, practices, terminology and facilities used in data
processing.
Ability to: analyze, interpret and prepare programs
to meet users’ needs and specifications; read and interpret technical manuals
and documentation; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish
cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of
performing assigned duties.
Training and
Experience
Any combination of
education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and
abilities. An example of this would be
a college degree in information technology or related field and/or experience
in programming and systems design and analysis.
