Job Summary
Provides both technical and functional support to users of
the financial, student or HR administrative applications in the areas of
security access, problem resolutions, system support, system testing and
development and implementation of training.
Scope
This position works in an assigned
area. Work contacts include
administrators and technical specialists from other external support entities
that are consulted with. Equipment used includes standard office equipment and
a variety of computer hardware and software.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions
regarding non-routine and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Provides consultative direction and training to end users
throughout the District.
Representative Duties
Develops methods and procedures to ensure integrity of
system access to appropriate menus, data systems and databases; recommends
corrective action when needed to ensure data security; prepares documentation
on processes related to district-wide computer systems in areas of system
administration and system interfaces; conducts training on system
applications/usage to users throughout district; coordinates the design and
testing of computer system upgrades with functional and technical staff';
prepares test plans and evaluates test results of system problems; assists in
project management; maintains liaison with technical staff and extended support
organizations for resolution of computer system problems; coordinates interface
between user and technical staff to resolve system problems; develops reports
and training materials for end users; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: general business applications and computerized
systems in the area of accounting, human resources and/or student information
systems; project management and procedure writing; computer system methods,
practices and terminology.
Ability to: work independently; diagnose problems and
recommend appropriate solutions; read and interpret technical manuals and documentation;
coordinate project implementation; diagnose end user and programming problems
and coordinate resolutions; communicate effectively orally and in writing;
identify and provide user training on a variety of software applications;
establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the
course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in information technology,
business or related field and/or experience in business or accounting,
involving the use of a variety of administrative computing systems, along with
experience in training or assisting computer users.

Working Conditions
Positions in this class may require prolonged monitor
viewing. After hours and weekend work may be required. On-call via phone and/or pager is
required. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
