Job Summary
Analyzes and evaluates existing or
proposed systems to
ensure that the computer programs and systems meet the current and
future
business/financial objectives of the District.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include administrators,
faculty, staff and vendors. Equipment
used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned
administrator; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific
instructions
regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may direct
the work of technical and administrative staff.
Representative Duties
Coordinates the development of
specifications for system
enhancement; analyzes and evaluates effectiveness of present and
proposed
computer systems and databases; researches, analyzes and coordinates
resolution
of various user and programmer problems; provides documentation
relating to
projects requirements; initiates system changes and upgrades; may
coordinate
year‑end reporting process; may provide training information and
manuals
for users; may develop reports to meet various user needs; performs
related
duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: computerized management systems and procedures; general business
systems
involving the implementation of computer solutions for systems
maintenance and
user training.
Ability
to: analyze and interpret computer data; understand user and programmer
problems and coordinate resolutions; communicate effectively orally and
in
writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons
contacted in
the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and
experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in information
technology,
business administration or a related field and/or experience in the
analysis of
computer system needs.
