Job Summary

 

Plans, markets, develops, coordinates and evaluates programs to meet the training needs of business, workforce development, industry and government, as well as meet department revenue goals.

 

Scope

 

This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include faculty, administrators, trainers, students, representatives of business, industry, technology and government organizations and the community.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment.

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports to an assigned administrator responsible for the program; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters. 

 

Supervision Exercised

 

Depending on location/department, may supervise the positions of Office Coordinator, Community Education Technician, Administrative Secretary and/or other assigned staff; oversees contract training staff.

 

Representative Duties

 

Plans and markets training services of the department or college to business, industry, government organizations and the community; develops courses, workshops, seminars and conferences to respond to client and workforce development needs and meet revenue goals; recruits, selects and evaluates trainers; develops and proposes legal contracts for services offered; develops and controls budgets; negotiates facility usage, trainer fees and food services; coordinates administrative procedures to ensure satisfactory program delivery and workforce development services; determines program fees; writes promotional and informational materials about program services; conducts labor market research; develops policies, procedures, strategic plans and  evaluates operations; maintains liaison relationship with existing and potential client base, college instructional departments and employment and training professions; participates on advisory boards and committees to develop guidelines; prepares reports; performs related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: business and industry training needs; curriculum design and development organizational structures and relationships in business and industry; instructional methodologies for adult learners; budget and program planning and development.

 

Ability to: sell and coordinate the delivery of non‑traditional educational programs to respond to the needs of business, workforce development, industry and government; establish educational service partnerships; develop and monitor budgets; conduct and analyze labor market research; develop strategic plans; coordinate, direct and evaluate the work of others; deliver effective oral and written presentations; communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees of business and industry; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

 

Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in education, organizational development, public or business administration or a related field, and/or experience in the sales and management of training services responding to employer needs.

 

Special Conditions of Employment

 

May be required to attend meetings outside of regular business hours.

 

State of Arizona Class D Driver's License.

 

Working Conditions

 

Local and out of state travel may be required.
