Job Summary

 

Coordinates and develops proposals for institution-wide external funding opportunities.  Develops and provides technical assistance to faculty and employees for the support of pre and post award functions of externally funded programs.

 

Scope

 

This position works in research, planning and development.  Work contacts include faculty, administrators, employees, and various federal, state and government offices.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment.

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports to Director Research Planning & Development; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine matters

Representative Duties

 

Coordinates and develops proposals for institution-wide external funding opportunities; develops and provides technical assistance to faculty and employees for the support of pre and post award functions of externally funded programs; designs, develops and evaluates materials to support institutional fundraising objectives; coordinates and or provides information support to achieve fundraising goals; ensures compliance with reporting requirements in accordance with federal, state, municipal, district and funding agency regulations, policies and procedures; identifies, collects, analyzes data and provides information for decision making; monitors developing trends and new external funding sources; markets programs and special projects to community via the web or other appropriate materials; monitors trends and available services relevant to assigned area and informs supervisor; participates with administrators and other staff in planning college activities; coordinates, prepares and/or edits complex narrative and statistical reports, presentations, schedules, handbooks, newsletters and promotional materials; provides research assistance on special projects; composes correspondence requiring an understanding of specialized issues of assigned area; performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: business, technical and small group communication skills; accounting and budget management; project management practices; meeting facilitation skills; educational institutions; standard office practices, procedures and equipment.

 

Ability to: maintain knowledge of policies and trends in the assigned area; coordinate, monitor and evaluate projects and activities; organize, prioritize and evaluate proposals for submission; work independently; maintain confidentiality; maintain accurate financial and statistical records; use multiple software packages; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships.

 

Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in business or communications, and or experience in the coordination and monitoring of complex projects, preparation of reports.
