Job Summary
Coordinates a program for institutional effectiveness
assessment, especially student outcomes measurement and related faculty/staff
development to promote curriculum development and instructional innovation.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include administrators,
faculty, staff, students, government agencies, committees, and the public. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions
regarding non‑routine matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may direct the work of students, temporary workers, and other assigned staff on a project basis.
Representative Duties
Assesses educational program and faculty needs in terms of
institutional effectiveness and student outcomes; coordinates a program for
institutional effectiveness, including student outcomes assessment and related
faculty/staff development; collects, compiles, analyzes and interprets data for
research related projects to support faculty, staff and administration for
programs and curriculum development; serves as a resource to other employees
working in the area of institutional effectiveness and faculty/staff
development; assists in developing policy and processes for supporting instructional
innovation; facilitates the development of innovative instructional programs;
may maintain an environmental scanning process; assists and supports faculty
efforts in the instructional development and student outcomes measurement
process; prepare/archive histories of data; provides information about local,
state and national requirements regarding institutional effectiveness and
related opportunities for professional development; conducts follow‑up
and evaluation activities; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: methods, principles and strategies of institutional effectiveness, student
outcomes assessment and related faculty/staff development; current issues in
higher education as related to teaching and learning theory and practice and
measurement; methods, practices and techniques of information management;
project management practices.
Ability
to: develop institutional effectiveness assessment strategies; assess related
training and development needs; plan, organize, implement and evaluate programs
involving institutional effectiveness and related faculty/staff development;
analyze complex data using computers and statistics; communicate effectively
orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons
contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree education, math, research
or a related field and/or experience in institutional effectiveness assessment
and institutional development and statistics
