Job Summary

 

Markets, develops and evaluates programs to meet the instructional needs of organizations, business and agencies. Programs include credit and non‑credit courses.

 

Scope

 

This position works in the area of instruction. Work contacts include staff, faculty, administrators, students, representatives of business and industry, government agencies and the community.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment.

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions for non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.

 

Supervision Exercised

 

Depending on location/department, may direct the work of staff on a project basis; selects and evaluates instructors for programs in assigned area of responsibility.

 

Representative Duties

 

Works with organizations to identify needs and develop appropriate instructional services; screens and selects instructors for courses in assigned area of responsibility; evaluates instructors and programs; presents capabilities of division to representatives of organizations and other interested parties; develops and conducts targeted marketing efforts; organizes and assists in the design of courses; identifies and oversees the work of content specialists in course development; develops program budgets, fee structures and payment arrangements; directs the work of division staff to ensure adequacy of administrative procedures to manage off‑site program delivery; negotiates facilities and services with vendors; participates on college advisory boards and committees; prepares proposals and reports; performs related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: training needs of business and industry; organizational structures and relationships in business; instructional methodologies for adult learners; budget and program planning and development.

 

Ability to: promote, develop and implement non‑traditional educational programs to meet the needs of business and industry; coordinate, direct and evaluate the work of others; develop and monitor budgets; make effective oral and written presentations; communicate effectively with all levels of management and employees in business; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

 


Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in education, an occupational discipline or other related area and/or responsible experience in the development, promotion or coordination of occupational programs to meet consumer needs.

 

Special Conditions of Employment

 

Positions in this class require incumbents to work flexible hours. Some positions may require a State of Arizona Class D Driver's license.

 

Working Conditions

 

Local travel is required.
