Job Summary
Provides marketing, public relations, fund raising, and
administrative support to the College President/Dean.
Scope
This position works in the Office of the President/Marketing
Department. Work contacts include
college and district administrators, faculty, staff, students, information
media, community leaders, and the public.
Equipment used includes audiovisual and standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the College President/Dean;
receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific
instructions regarding non‑routine matters.
Supervision Exercised
This position supervises assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Assists the College President/Dean with all facets of public
relations, marketing, fund raising, image development, alumni activities, and
special projects; prepares the budget for and directs college printed
publications (excluding student publications); coordinates advertising,
graphics, and photographic support for the college; assists and advises college
faculty and staff in planning written and printed material; develops annual
college marketing objectives and goals; organizes and coordinates public
activities and special events; assists in the development of long range public
relation plans for student recruitment and retention; maintains liaison
relationships with the media, the community, public relations, marketing,
advertising, and fund raising organizations; establishes fund raising and
scholarship recruitment programs for annual and deferred giving from corporate
and individual donors; directs and coordinates a speakers bureau; performs
related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: principles, practices and techniques of marketing, advertising; public
relations, fund raising; print and electronic media production and reproduction
techniques; graphic design and layout techniques; aesthetic considerations
relative to facilities and printed materials; philosophy and activities of
community colleges.
Ability
to: conceptualize and prepare marketing and public relations plans and
materials; prepare and coordinate fund raising programs; interpret and analyze
market data; handle sensitive matters with discretion; communicate effectively
orally and in writing, and establish cooperative working relationships with
persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in journalism or
communication and/or responsible administrative experience in public
relations.
Special Conditions of Employment
Must be available for occasional evening meetings.
