Job Summary
Develops, coordinates and implements the college admissions
and recruitment program to enhance student enrollment and retention.
Scope
This position works in the area of college admissions and
recruitment. Work contacts include
administrators, faculty, staff, students, high schools, and business/industry
and community organizations. Equipment
used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator
responsible for the program; receives general direction regarding routine and
standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly
sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise the positions of Admission/Records Technician,
Coordinator Public Relations, Administrative Assistant and/or other assigned
staff.
Representative Duties
Hires, trains and supervises assigned staff in daily
operations; develops, coordinates and implements a college recruitment program
which includes admissions and recruitment of students, high school relations,
business/industry relations and outreach activities; establishes a system for
tracking student enrollment, decline and retention and high school visitation
schedules; analyzes enrollment trends; monitors budget; performs transcript
evaluations; processes documentation for credit by examination and evaluation;
supervises selective admissions to special programs which may include high
school co-enrollment; administers state residency laws and regulations;
resolves any questions regarding admissions policies and procedures; evaluates
transcripts for international students; develops and implements marketing
strategies and targeted recruitment populations; monitors and issues all I‑20's
for international students; develops and implements workshops and seminars on
admissions/recruitment activities; plans, coordinates and implements student
assessment program; collects official student documents supporting data
reporting to local, state and federal sources; provides an analysis of
population used in determining the targeted populations for recruitment
efforts; investigates and resolves questions and issues with admissions policy
and procedures; evaluates data to determine recruitment program effectiveness;
serves as a member of appropriate college/district committees; performs related
duties as assigned.

Abilities
Knowledge
of: admission and recruitment programs; local, state and federal regulations;
needs of high school, college and community served; database management systems
in admissions and recruitment; software for analysis of data; marketing and
recruitment strategies; data interpretation and evaluation; record-keeping,
financial, statistical and report practices.
Ability
to: assess admission and recruitment needs and utilize college systems; learn
governmental guidelines and regulations applicable to college admissions and
recruitment; develop correspondence, brochures, catalogs, bulletins and
newsletters; report, analyze and interpret statistical data; train and
supervise staff; prepare a wide variety of reports; interpret policies and
procedures; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish
cooperative working relationships with person contacted in the course of
performing assigned duties.
Training and
Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in a related field and/or
administrative experience in admissions and recruitment with a working
knowledge of an automated office system.

Positions in this class may require prolonged monitor
viewing and occasional lifting of up to 50-lb objects.
