Job Summary
Supervises and coordinates financial activity of externally
funded federal/state; monitors all activity in Current Restricted Fund.
Scope
This position works in the area of Business Services. Work contacts include administrators, staff,
external funding and governmental agencies, auditors. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives
general instruction regarding routine matters and specific instruction
regarding non‑routine and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Supervises Accountant and students.
Representative Duties
Assists externally-funded program directors/staff in
financial administration of such programs to ensure compliance with District
and granting agency requirements; reviews direct and matching expenditures and
budget variances; recommends and journalizes any necessary adjustments;
coordinates, reviews, and/or prepares all financial reports required by
granting agencies; reconciles financial reports to District accounting system;
requests federal letter of credit funds for all Department of Education awards;
journalizes and reconciles the federal receivable; coordinates year-end
journalizing of all receivables from granting agencies; prepares radio station
financial statements, reports, and work papers necessary for audit of same;
prepares indirect cost rate proposal submitted to federal agent; coordinates
assistance to external auditors pertaining to the Current Restricted Fund and
Single Audit requirements; monitors all activity in the Current Restricted Fund
including externally-funded programs, scholarships and the Skill Center; may have
responsibility for management of grant operations and attainment of program goals
to ensure compliance with agency requirements; develops and proposes various
accounting/reporting procedures; performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: accounting principles practices, and procedures including governmental accounting;
data processing systems; financial report writing; federal/state regulations
pertaining to grants and contracts; computerized accounting systems.
Ability
to: perform assigned duties in a timely and accurate manner; develop and
maintain procedures and documentation to comply with current District and
granting agency requirements; supervise staff; communicate effectively orally
and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons
contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in Accounting or Business
Administration with supervisory experience in accounting principles utilized in
government.

Position may require prolonged period of viewing CRT and
microfiche reader.
