Job Summary
Supervises the reporting/reconciliation activities of
federal and state financial aid programs. Supervises the area of Student
Financial Services with emphasis on collection of student delinquent
receivables.
Scope
This position works in the area of business services. Work
contacts include students, administrators, staff, external agencies, external
auditors and vendors. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator. Receives
general instruction regarding routine matters; specific instruction regarding
non-routine and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Supervises the positions of Accounting Assistant, Fiscal
Technician, Loan Collection Assistant and student workers.
Representative Duties
Coordinates and implements all financial aid activities to
ensure consistent application of the District's procedures involving
federal/state regulations impact on financial aid programs; researches,
analyzes and interprets federal regulations and funding agency guidelines;
serves as liaison to internal and external Maricopa community including
external auditors, Arizona Department of Revenue and service vendors; provides
reporting and accounting information on financial aid programs; reviews and/or
prepares required federal, state and institutional financial reports;
responsible for loan management administrative computing system, including
reconciliation, training and responding to campus information requests; works
directly with external auditors on matters involving district-wide single audit
engagement; may coordinate student receivables collection efforts with the
Arizona Department of Revenue Debt Set-off Program and overall collection
activities; seeks consensus on implementation issues with college Financial Aid
Directors on matters of federal reporting requirements on Title IV programs;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: federal Title IV student aid regulations;
accounting principles and procedures; computerized accounting systems; debt
collection; policies and procedures of the District.
Ability to: supervise the work of others; interpret and
analyze federal regulations, policies and procedures; communicate effectively
orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships in the
course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in accounting or business
and/or professional level experience in student financial aid reporting and
collections in a supervisory capacity.
