Job Summary
Plans and facilitates development and enhancement of
innovative programs, projects and initiatives that promote teaching and
learning, institutional development, scholarships and other priorities through
cultivation, planning and proposal development to secure public and private
funding for the Maricopa Community Colleges. Assists the Director of Grants and
Corporate Development in implementing long-term plans, strategies and
objectives to secure public and private funding, including the development and
enhancement of relationships with local and national corporations and
foundations and internal grant development collaborations to ensure continuous
public and private support for the Maricopa Community Colleges.
Scope
This position works with faculty, administrators, staff,
students, local and national government, corporate and foundations officers,
business and industry representatives, educational and community partners and
fundraising volunteers, including Directors of the Maricopa Community Colleges
Foundation. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director of Grants &
Corporate Development; receives general direction regarding routine and
standard matters; specific instructions regarding non-routine and sensitive
matters.
Supervision Exercised
May supervise the
position of Administrative Secretary and/or other assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Assists in the development and implementation of long-term
strategies and program design to obtain private and public funding to support
innovative programs and initiatives of the Maricopa Community Colleges;
provides consultation and support for internal and external initiatives and
collaborations to develop concepts for public and private funding
opportunities, including identification of viable funding opportunities,
project and proposal planning and development, review approvals and submission;
develops proposals that are competitive or fundable and that comply with all
program funding application criteria and technical requirements; supports
administrators and faculty throughout the district regarding planning,
development, evaluation and reporting of publicly funded grants, contracts and
externally funded projects; provides guidance and support to administrators,
faculty and prospective donors regarding delineation of private gifts;
recommends solutions to resolve complex problems that impede and influence
funding and continued funding of public grants and private gifts; writes
proposals and/or provides consultative services for others preparing proposals
for public and private funding; monitors and achieves fundraising goals for
private gifts and periodically develops goal reports; assists in the
development and implementation of corporate and foundation cultivation and
solicitation strategies and provides staff to support volunteers leading these
activities; monitors and utilizes public and private giving trends to develop
viable proposals; provides leadership and facilitates collaborations in the
development, planning and program design necessary to develop concepts to
obtain public and private funding; performs related duties as assigned.

development and philanthropic fundraising; institutional advancement; prospect
development; donor cultivation and solicitation; federal and state guidelines
regulating management and control of public grants; volunteer development;
proposal and grant writing.
Ability to: execute long-term strategies; write persuasive,
competitive proposals; work collaboratively at all levels of the organization
and with external corporations, foundations and governmental entities; monitor,
interpret and apply complex governmental regulations; write and facilitate the
development of comprehensive proposals and reports; execute multiple tasks;
meet deadlines; recognize educational innovations to develop viable proposals
for public and private funding; execute discretion and a high degree of
confidentiality; effectively utilize computer applications and programs for
proposal development; communicate effectively orally and in writing;
occasionally supervise and coordinate the work of others; establish cooperative
working relationships in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree with experience in
corporate and foundation fundraising in higher education or for a non-profit
organization, or a college degree plus grants administration, writing and
development experience, preferably in higher education.
Special Conditions of Employment
This position requires occasional evening/weekend hours; some local, and occasionally out-of-state, travel.
