Job Summary
Directs the planning, development, implementation, and communication activities of district wide ACE programs. Communicates with other educational institutions at all levels and other partners, which include corporation, foundation, government, and community agencies and representatives. Facilitates special project campaigns and implementation with district and college administrators and personnel.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, and students at colleges, district, and other educational institutions locally and around the nation, as well as government, foundations, consultants, corporations, business organizations, and the public. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Vice Chancellor Student Development and Community Affairs; receives general direction regarding routine matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine matters.
Supervision Exercised
This position may direct the work of administrators,
faculty, staff, students, interns, and consultants and may supervise external
consultants.
Representative Duties
Directs the overall activity of the Maricopa ACE initiative;
assists the ACE Steering Committee and college ACE Program Directors to plan
policy, procedures and programs; plans meetings, speakers, conferences, and
retreats; directs the content, production, and delivery of websites,
newsletters, brochures, manuals and other information about the Maricopa ACE
programs and project activities; responds to steering committees, consortia,
college, and other partners; seeks funding for Maricopa ACE programs; assists
colleges in the district and nationally who are in the process of establishing
similar at risk student and drop out prevention programs; maintains currency on
local and national at risk student programs; maintains liaison with program
officers of government and national foundations and corporations with an
emphasis on maintaining complex partnerships; works closely with college
administrators and faculty to design and implement ACE programs and support for
them; finds necessary resources to establish and sustain district wide ACE
programs; manages ACE program operations and budget at the district level;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: current theory and practice in at risk student
program development, program design and development, fundraising, needs
analysis, and administration.
Ability to: assess community education needs and develop
responsive programs; hire and supervise staff; prepare and monitor budgets;
communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working
relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned
duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in Education and/or
community college management experience.
