Job Summary

 

Plans, designs and directs a comprehensive student success program or educational services in conjunction with other departments, faculty, local schools and community groups for the purpose of promoting student success and retention.


Scope

 

This position works in the area of student or educational services. Equipment used includes standard office equipment. 

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non routine matters.   


Supervision Exercised

 

Depending on location/department, may supervise the positions of Manager Disability Resources & Services, Coordinator Learning Center, Student Services Specialist, Office Coordinator, Administrative Secretary and/or other assigned staff.


Representative Duties

 

Plans, organizes, administers, and supervises the campus-wide student success and retention program; plans, organizes, implements and supervises student success and retention programs; coordinates success plans with institutional effectiveness efforts; coordinates and facilitates success plans with faculty, staff and other departments; provides services for at-risk students; may oversee other college programs which may include but are not limited to New Student Orientation, Student Enrollment, Disability Resources, English as a Second Language, Learning Center, Computer Commons and multicultural services; supervises and trains assigned staff; evaluates program activities and prepares reports, materials and formal presentations for program use and implementation; may administer departmental budget; serves on college/district committees; coordinates student success tracking system, data collection analysis and follow-up surveys; performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: student development theory and practice; student success and retention strategies; management practices; at-risk populations to be served; program development and public relations; governmental and special funding guidelines; regulations applications to student success and retention.

 

Ability to:  organize and manage a college student success program; supervise the work of assigned staff; prepare, maintain and interprets statistical data; work with a wide range of diverse people; communicate effectively orally and in writing, establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the process of performing assigned duties.


Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college decree in education, social work or related field and/or experience in student success; retention programs in a supervisory capacity.


Special Conditions of Employment

 

May be required to work a flex schedule, extended hours and weekends.  Extensive local travel.

State of Arizona class D Driver’s license required.
