Job Summary
Directs and coordinates the planning, research and development area of the Health Care Integrated Educational System (HCIES). Manages the student evaluation of HCIES courses for the continuous improvement of outcomes assessment and evaluation of Healthcare programs and services.
This position works in the area of HCIES. Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students, representatives of local, state, national & international educational institutions, business and community organizations, government and external agencies, consultants, foundations and private and public sector funding entities throughout the country. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the District Director Health Care Education; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; broad direction related to HCIES and MCCCD goals and objectives; specific instructions regarding non-routine and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Provides work direction to staff, faculty and consultants on
project assignments.
Representative Duties
Plans, designs, conducts and analyzes statistical research
studies; designs database queries, questionnaires and data collection
instruments and develop statistical tests for research problems; analyzes and
disseminates results of research to internal and external constituencies; makes
presentations at meetings and conferences on issues pertaining to education in
general and health care programs in particular; maintains liaison with
national, regional and local agencies in the areas of educational research,
evaluation, assessment, accreditation and certification; develops partnerships to provide outcome
assessment and evaluation services districtwide; provides direction for
accreditation requirements and activities; provides information on
students, employment markets, funding, best practices, competing institutions
and/or other factors to support District needs; creates databases and support
systems to support research activities and decision making for institutional
effectiveness; participates in all HCIES councils, task forces, community
activities and committees as appropriate; provides work direction to assigned
project staff; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: principles of data collection and statistics
including use and applications; institutional research and design; assessment
and evaluation concepts, methods and models; use of computers in statistical
and education applications; clinical programs; course evaluation and outcomes
assessment; theory and practice of strategic and operational planning; current
and innovative practices in assessment, evaluation, research, higher education
and the healthcare industry.
Ability to: analyze data, assess needs, diagnose problems,
and recommend solutions; plan, organize, implement and evaluate responsive
research; use theoretical research methods; assess community-related college
needs; coordinate multi-college common needs for information and data; prepare
appropriate program summaries; design and evaluate programs to meet
specifications of external accreditating agencies and MCCCD; organize,
coordinate and direct the work of staff; conduct workshops and seminars;
communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working
relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned
duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in research, statistics or
related field and/or experience in research, educational development, program
evaluation related to instruction in an educational system.
