Job Summary
Plans and directs technology and media services and
classroom support activities within a college environment.
Scope
This position works in the area of
information technology. Work contacts
include administrators, faculty, staff, government personnel and vendors. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment and a variety of computer and
media hardware and software.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator. Operates
under broad direction. Receives general direction regarding routine and
standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and sensitive
matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise the positions of Coordinator Video Production,
Audio/Visual Maintenance Technician, Audio/Visual Technician, Technology
Customer Service Representative, Coordinator Instructional Technology
Development, Graphic Designer and/or other assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Plans, directs, implements and evaluates instructional
technology applications for the college; provides leadership for the
development and implementation of new technology programs and services; plans
and implements technology systems; provide specifications and design for
infrastructure; manage staff; conducts on‑site assessment of programs and
facilities; develops and recommends budget requests; administers approved
budgets from all fund sources in accordance with college and district
guidelines; serves on appropriate
college, district-wide and community committees; manage bid process for vendors
to solicit bids for college technology and media needs; coordinates technology
acquisitions; manage projects and troubleshoot systems at the infrastructure
level; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: current practices in technology-based systems;
planning, administration and development; staff development and evaluation
processes, budget preparation and committee process.
Ability to: plan, direct, implement and evaluate technology;
supervise assigned staff; coordinate activities with a variety of college staff
and departments; assist in the development of
college‑level courses for delivery through communication
technologies; prepare and administer budget; communicate effectively orally and
in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted
in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in a technology related
field and/or experience in telecommunications, media and instructional
technology training and education.
