Job Summary


Plans, administers and provides technical media support for instructional services.

 

Scope


This position works in an assigned area.  Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students, vendors and outside agencies using the facilities.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment and a variety of audiovisual equipment.

 

Supervision Received


This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and highly sensitive matters.

 

Supervision Exercised


Depending on location/department, may supervise the positions of Audiovisual Technician and/or other assigned staff.

 

Representative Duties


Plans, evaluates and administers the day to day operations of the instructional support services in the Media Services department; administers scheduling, delivery, maintenance and inventory of audiovisual equipment; administers a preventative maintenance program; oversees and directs video productions and videoconferencing; develops and conducts workshops on use of equipment; oversees the installation of classroom technology equipment; consults with faculty on media needs and instructional goals; may participate on appropriate committees; supervises assigned staff; prepares and monitors budget and capital equipment requests; acts as a resource to staff on media services, products and instructional design; performs related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Abilities


Knowledge of: maintenance, operation and instructional uses of audiovisual equipment; methods and procedures for scheduling; inventory control; budget preparation; video production, script writing and lighting for video; learning theory and instructional strategies; audiovisual materials and equipment.

 

Ability to: evaluate and select audiovisual materials and equipment; assist faculty in the design, production and use of audiovisual materials; direct and coordinate the work of others; communicate effectively; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

 

Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be professional training or experience in educational media in a supervisory capacity preferred.
