Job Summary
Provides leadership for faculty and staff in the effective
use of new and current technologies for instructional purposes. Consults and develops collaborations with
external organizations. Implements and
promotes instructional technologies throughout the District.
Scope
This position works in the area of
instructional technology. Work contacts
include administrators, faculty staff, committees and representatives from
computer and new technologies business/industries. Equipment used includes standard office equipment and a variety of computer hardware and software.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned administrator.

None.
Representative Duties
Consults with faculty and staff in developing instructional
uses of technologies; researches, analyzes and evaluates new technologies for
potential applications in instruction; promotes the implementation of
technological innovations; creates demonstrations of instructional applications
of technologies; plans, coordinates and conducts special topics workshops in
the use of technologies in instruction for faculty, staff or conferences;
arranges and schedules new technologies demonstrations and workshops by
vendors; provides assistance to faculty, staff and administrators who have
instructional technology needs; publicizes and promotes services, resources and
activities of the Center; installs, configures and maintains software and
courseware, as well as troubleshoots problems with microcomputer hardware and
peripheral for the Center for Instructional Technology; recommends new
technologies, hardware, software and related printer material for acquisition
by the Center; designs and develops new instructional technology applications;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: current technologies; instructional
technologies; various microcomputer hardware, peripherals and microcomputer
operating systems; networking systems; various microcomputer software packages
(including information processing, database management, spreadsheet analysis
and graphics); authoring languages and systems; instructional design techniques
and procedures.
Ability to: develop behavioral objectives and instructional
materials; diagnose microcomputer and other technology and software programs;
interpret user and owner manuals in lay person's terms; identify advantages and
limitations of using various technologies for instructional and other purposes;
communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working
relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned
duties.
Training and
Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in instructional technology
or related field and/or applied experience in instructional development with
background in the uses of new technologies for instruction. Experience in computer courseware design and
instructional technology.
