Job Summary

 

Plans, directs and administers the adjunct faculty staffing process for the college to ensure standards of quality and appropriateness in matching instructors with positions. Provides for the consistent application of district and state policies and procedures to staffing and personnel file documentation.

 

Scope

 

This position works in the area of Instructional Support and Personnel.  Work contacts include administrators, faculty, and adjunct faculty. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports to the Dean of Instruction; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non‑routine and sensitive matters.

 

Supervision Exercised

 

Supervises assigned staff and temporaries.

 

Representative Duties

 

Plans, directs and administers the adjunct faculty staffing process which includes recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring and training; consults with Residential faculty and Business and industry clients; creates and conducts demonstrations of instructional methodologies such as general teaching techniques and alternative delivery methods; oversees centralized records management system and compilation of personnel documentation; works with Arizona State Board of Certification and District Instructional Committees to comply with faculty certification requirements; participates in establishing long‑range objectives relating to adjunct faculty staffing and retention; maintains compliance with state and federal employment laws; performs related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: broad range of current instructional methodologies such as those associated with distance learning; computer based, accelerated as well as traditional formats and instructional practices relative to Employment; employment law; principles and practices of recruitment, screening, interviewing and placement; Affirmative Action principles, state and federal laws related to employment.

 

Ability to: work cooperatively at all levels of the organization as well as with external clients; use and communicate specific policies and procedures related to adjunct faculty; prepare and deliver training; research and develop strategies and recommend direction for programs; analyze data; implement records systems relative to staffing; organize work flow and supervise work of others; communicate effectively orally and in writing and establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

 

Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in Human Resources or related field and/or instructional experience in a community college setting and experience in staffing of Adjunct faculty.
