Job Summary
Oversees Maricopa Colleges Television’s (MCTV) daily
operations including all aspects of production, post production, programming
and engineering. Assures all MCTV productions meet technical quality
commensurate with industry best practices and standards and specifications;
plans, schedules, allocates and coordinates movement of resources utilizing the
three phases of television/video production that are required to meet
production deadlines.
Scope
This position works in the area of MCTV. Work contacts
include administrators, staff, faculty, students, MCCCD Governing Board
members, industry vendors, media representatives, volunteers, external and
internal marketing and public relations organizations and groups, community
members and leaders. Equipment used includes digital television/video
production and broadcast equipment, stand office equipment and computer and
related software.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Director of MCTV; receives
general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific
instructions regarding non routine matters.
Supervision Exercised
Supervises MCTV Post Production Supervisor, MCTV Programming
Coordinator, Production Coordinator and Chief Engineer, assigned staff,
temporaries, students and volunteers.
Representative Duties
Supervises the daily operation of MCTV; manages the
resources required to meet video production quality standards and deadlines
through the following production workflow phases: production, post production,
programming, and engineering; duties include budgeting and other factors
required to maintain schedules and meet tight production deadlines; works
closely with internal and external clients in producing and delivering on-site
television/video production services; serves as liaison with MCCD offices and
departments as designated MCTV supervisor; gathers and maintains operational
data for analysis and develops reports; assists with MCTV budget decisions;
assists with development, monitoring, and updating of MCTV Strategic Plan;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: television/video industry best practices and
methods in delivery of complex and non-complex television/video productions;
industry systems standards and FCC (Federal Communications Commission)
programming and broadcast regulations; digital cameras, digital switchers,
audio systems, studio and field lighting, digital technologies, non-linear post
production technology and practices, DVD authoring, and multi-camera switching.
Ability to: manage, schedule, budget, produce, write, shoot
and edit MCTV projects both in studio and in the field; forecast and allocate
budgetary resources required in meeting internal and external projects;
communicate effectively orally and in writing, establish cooperative working
relationships with persons contacted in the process of performing assigned
duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in communications or
related field and/or experience in managing multiple television/video projects,
overseeing coverage of major events utilizing live and live-to-tape
multi-camera television/video productions, with experience as a
producer/writer/director.
Special Conditions of Employment
On call 24 hours.
After hours and/or weekend
work may be required. On-call via telephone and/or pager required. Some
positions may require a Class D Driver’s License. This class specification is intended to indicate the basic
