Job Summary

 

Creates, develops, budgets, coordinates, implements and supervises the production of Maricopa College’s Television’s video magazine program and other assigned television/video productions and projects. Performs and executes all necessary functions of a traditional lead television/video producer.


Scope

 

This position works in the area of MCTV. Work contacts include administrators, staff, students, Governing Board members, vendors, media representatives, volunteers, external and internal marketing and public relations personnel, media contacts and representatives, other educational institutions, community members and leaders, alumni and foundation staff. Equipment used includes analog and digital television equipment, computers, stand office equipment and related software.

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports to the Director of MCTV; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non routine matters.   


Supervision Exercised

 

This position supervises assigned staff, faculty, temporaries, students, volunteers, and freelance production staff.


Representative Duties

 

Responsible for delivering deadline-driven television/video productions; researches, writes and produces broadcast quality television programs and videos ranging in various final product lengths; works closely with a variety of clientele assisting and providing guidance in determining project aesthetics, target audience, message and final content; determines project deadlines and assigns and supervises television production personnel; prepares, monitors and manages television production and project budgets; ensures compliance with acceptable broadcast television standards; cultivates and maintains contact with MCCCD colleges, local communities and businesses; scheduled assigned staff; performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: principles, methods, practices and ethics of broadcast journalism; equipment and terminology used in television broadcast/video production operations.

 

Ability to: demonstrate master of broadcast/cable copywriting, editing and television/video production techniques and practices within deadline-driven environment; communicate effectively orally and in writing, establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the process of performing assigned duties.


Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a degree in communication or related field and/or experience in a television/video production environment.


Special Conditions of Employment

 

On call 24 hours.


Working Conditions

 

After hours and/or weekend work may be required. On call via telephone and/or pager required. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
