Job Summary

 

Directs, implements, and evaluates the development efforts of the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation for the purpose of generating financial support.


Scope

 

This position works in the area of development efforts. Work contacts include campus level and Foundation development officers, gift committees, Foundation Board members, donors, volunteers, business and industry, community leaders, local organization and association contacts, faculty, students, alumni and media. Equipment used includes stand office equipment.

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer of the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non routine matters. 


Supervision Exercised

 

This position manages supervises assigned staff.


Representative Duties

 

Develops, implements, directs and evaluates development efforts at the Foundation level designed to generate financial and non-financial support from corporations, foundations, individuals and families for the Maricopa Community College District; supervises Foundation fundraising and campaign staff; collaborates and maintains liaison with development officers district wide; assists in planning and executing targeted fundraising campaigns throughout the Maricopa Community College District; develops, implements and refines donor relations and development programs which incorporate planning, strategizing, prospect research, personal solicitations, follow-up and long-term donor/prospect cultivation; oversees the recruitment, organization and staffing of volunteer committees; provides direction and support to campus and Foundation development officers, volunteers, gift committees and board members; plans staffing to ensure solicitation calls are properly staffed and follow-up materials to include formal proposals are professionally written and timely; designs and implements cultivation efforts to maintain contact with existing donors as well as promote interest to prospective donors in support of Maricopa Community Colleges; identifies and develops new gift potential; directs cultivation processes for the purpose of developing and enlarging the donor base by attracting new philanthropic involvement; performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: principles of institutional advancement, development and philanthropy; techniques of donor cultivation and solicitation; community leadership dynamics; volunteer development; proposal writing.

 

Ability to: develop solicitation strategies; organize and develop volunteer participation in fundraising; communicate effectively orally and in writing, establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the process of performing assigned duties.


Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree with successful and extensive experience in managing a comprehensive development program in higher education or a non-profit institution.


Special Conditions of Employment

 

This position requires flexible work hours; some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
