Job Summary

 

Develops, coordinates and implements a variety of articulation efforts to eliminate duplication and promote cooperation in educational offerings between the Maricopa Community Colleges and other Arizona community colleges and public, private and international post-secondary institutions in accordance with District goals and relevant legislation. 

 

Scope

 

This position works in the area of articulation.  Work contacts include faculty, administrators, and staff of colleges and universities throughout the state as well as within the District.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment. 

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports to the District Director Transfer & Articulation; receives broad direction as to goals and objectives; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non-routine and highly sensitive matters.

 

Supervision Exercised

 

Provides direction to Administrative Assistant and/or other assigned staff.

 

Representative Duties

 

Assists the Director in finalizing articulation agreements between the District and public, private and international post-secondary institutions in consultation with faculty and administrators; provides a variety of program and administrative participation and support to a variety of statewide committees and task forces, including ATAC, as District representative; serves as MCCCD contact for transfer articulation; coordinates statewide faculty membership on various academic discipline task forces; develops and conducts orientation sessions for task force members and chairs; responds to inquiries regarding articulation from faculty, staff and administrators throughout the District, state and nation; works with staff to maintain MCCCD portion of the CEG through consultation with faculty and curriculum committees; participates in the continual development and implementation of the statewide Arizona post-secondary Transfer Model and its support systems, including CAS and CAS/CEG and serves on relevant task forces; consults on the continuous maintenance and enhancement of Degree Audit System to track information relevant to curriculum management, articulation agreements, transfer programs and program/degree requirements; serves as articulation resource to District Curriculum committees; provides support to District faculty participating on state university curriculum committees; assists in the formulation of articulation policy statement and revisions; advises Director about transfer articulation trends; monitors compliance of transfer articulation agreements; represents the District as needed; performs related duties as assigned. 

 

Knowledge and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: policies and procedures regarding transfer articulation; curriculum development and administration; curriculum offerings of community colleges and universities; computerized record keeping systems. 

 

Ability to: keep abreast of statewide college and university curriculum administration, articulation efforts and legislation; coordinate complex activities with multiple parties; research, develop, present, promote and negotiate projects and agreements; work independently; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

 

Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in education or a related field and/or experience in college-level curriculum development or administration, including significant coordination responsibilities. 

 

Special Conditions of Employment

 

Requires local, state and national travel. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
