Job Summary

Directs, plans, develops and evaluates customized training packages to meet the training needs of business, industry and government. Targets evening, weekend, summer credit and non-credit programs for the community to promote maximum student recruitment and retention.

Scope

This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students, and representatives of business and industry, government agencies, community organizations and students. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.

Supervision Received

This position reports to an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instruction regarding non-routine and highly sensitive matters.

Supervision Exercised

Depending on location/department, may supervise the positions of Administrative Secretary and/or other assigned staff, instructors, contractors, students and temporaries.

Representative Duties

Coordinates and directs the planning, development, implementation, delivery, support and evaluation of classroom instruction and occupational training programs for business, industry, government and the community; serves as liaison with local, regional and national employers for the purposes of establishing and maintaining resource partnerships, occupational training and workforce development; develops and maintains department(s) and program(s) budgets, fee structures and payment arrangements; prepares promotional materials and markets assigned programs to potential and existing business and industry clients and the community; hires, trains and supervises the work of assigned staff; manages on-site and off-site programs to ensure students recruitment and retention; negotiates and maintains facilities and services; participates on college and community advisory boards and committees; negotiates partnership agreements; prepares proposal and reports; ensures compliance with district, state and federal agencies' policies for internal and external audits; makes oral and written presentations relative to training programs to meet business, industry and government training needs; performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of: trends in educational/training needs of business, industry and government agencies; facilitates curriculum development; instructional design and delivery of educational training programs; budget and program planning and development.

Ability to: supervise assigned staff; promote, design and coordinate the delivery of customized training for business, industry and government clients; develop and maintain budgets, proposals and agreements; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

Training and Experience

Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be a college degree in management, business, education or a related area and/or professional experience in the planning and coordination of occupational education programs to meet employer and community needs. Supervisory experience preferred.

Special Conditions of Employment

This position requires the availability to attend meetings outside regular business hours, on and off campus. Local, state and national travel may be required.
