Job Summary
Plans, manages and directs all business services including:
budget development and management, contractual leases, fixed asset management,
and fiscal office function.
Scope
This position works in the area of administration. Work
contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students, business and
industry, the public, and vendors.
Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Dean Administrative
Services; receives broad instruction as
to college goals and objectives in the area of responsibility.
Supervision Exercised
Supervises assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Plans, manages and directs all business services of the
college; oversees the fiscal operation and the collection of fees and monies
owed the college; assists in the development and management of the college
budget; reports on a regular basis to the president and college deans on
current budget status; serves as principle college agent for all fiscal
communication to the district office; approves all expenditures of funds; plans
and directs all printshop operations; maintains liaison for contractual
agreements with outside vendors such as bookstore, food service, copy machine
and recycling services; plans and conducts training programs on budget
administration for college personnel; advises and directs staff on fiscal rules
and regulations governing college funds; directs fixed assets inventory and
control; ensures fiscal integrity of college funds; trains, supervises, and
evaluates assigned staff; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: current practices in community college
administration; principles and practices of fiscal control; automated
accounting systems; institutional purchasing practices and procedures;
management methods and practices.
Ability to: manage business and printshop support department;
prepare and administer college budget; develop and conduct training programs;
manage and coordinate diverse operations; prepare and analyze financial
statistics; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish
cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of
performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in Public or Business
Administration and/or demonstrated experience in administrative and fiscal
operations, preferably in an educational environment.
