Job Summary
Plans,
develops, and administers the college's institutional advancement activities.
Directs activities of the college departments including internal and external
communications, fundraising, marketing, public relations, special events and
alumni relations.
Scope
This position works in an
assigned area. Work contacts include College President, administrators, staff,
alumni, members of the college-wide community advisory committee(s), and the
community. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This
position reports to the College President; receives general direction regarding
routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non-routine
and sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
This position supervises
the assigned staff of Marketing and Public Relations, Special Events, Alumni
Activities, and Communications.
Representative Duties
Coordinates
and implements fundraising activities with Executive Director of Development;
directs the preparation and submission of grant proposals; prepares the college
to receive gifts and grants in congruence with mission; directs the college's
public relations activities and all written publications/materials designed to
transmit the college's image to prospective students and the community;
supervises the media relation activities; prepares and recommends policies and
procedures; planning, organization, and administration of the college
institutional advancement activities; collects and analyzes data regarding
program and college relations trends; maintains liaison relationship with
external media and the community; speaks at public meetings on issues
pertaining to the college; monitors and administers assigned grant programs;
participates on community committees and task forces; administers budget;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: fundraising and grant writing activities; institutional planning and
research; public relations; staff development; budget preparation; community
college philosophy and administration.
Ability
to: make effective oral and written presentations; represent the college to a
wide variety of constituencies; manage and coordinate diverse staff functions;
communicate effectively orally and in writing; work collaboratively with peers,
subordinates, and supervisors; maintain positive relations with the media and
community leaders; establish cooperative working relationships with persons
contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any
combination of education, training and experience that provides the required
skills and abilities. An example of this would be a college degree in
education, administration, behavioral or social sciences, or communications,
with extensive experience in institutional advancement activities at the
college or university level.
Special Conditions of
Employment
This position requires
evenings and weekend hours.
