Job Summary
Administers educational programs,
curriculum, technology, student services, or College Human Resources
within the area of assignment at an assigned campus within
existing policies and regulations. This could include evening, weekend,
summer,
non-credit, and/or community programs; telecommunications,
media services, computer labs and/or infrastructure.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area
and provides
assistance to the administrative team and the Dean in all areas related
to the
administration and management of the overall area of assignment. Work contacts include administrators, faculty,
staff and the public. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment and
a variety of computer hardware and software.
Supervision Received
This position reports to an assigned Dean
or Vice President;
receives direction related to educational, instructional, occupational,
continuing education and/or related goals and objectives; specific
instructions
regarding non-routine and highly sensitive matters.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise the positions of supervisors,
coordinators, faculty, and/or other assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Assists in the planning, direction and
management of an
assigned area at a campus; provides leadership for the development and
implementation of new programs, technology and/or services; may
coordinate
delivery of services at distant locations; may identify potential
instructors
for courses; acts as a liaison between faculty and students; plans and
implements programs and systems; monitors and evaluates
programs/services to
meet learning outcomes; provides leadership in strategic planning and
budget
development; assists other colleges in planning delivered formats;
oversees
faculty support, security and inventory;
identifies market trends; may plan, direct and implement College
Human Resources activities; resolve complex Human Resources issues;
develops and recommends budget requests for
operational, capital, revenue and grant funds; administers approved
budgets
from all fund sources in accordance with college, district and/or agency guidelines; negotiates contracts, manages
site license agreements and approves related purchases for the college;
serves
on appropriate college, districtwide and community committees; may administer external grants;
performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: current practices in the administration and theory of
programs/services in
assigned area; administration, staff development and program
development;
budget preparation; instructional evaluation processes; Human Resouces
policy and procedures.
Ability
to: plan, direct and evaluate programs and/or services; supervise
assigned
staff; coordinate activities with a variety of college staff and
departments;
prepare and administer budgets; communicate effectively orally and in
writing;
establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in
the
course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and
experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree and experience in
community
college management with occupational or continuing education programs;
instructional programs; student services and registration; information
technology, instructional technology, Human Resources or related field.
Master's degree
required.
Special Conditions of Employment
Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
