Job
Summary
Plans,
directs and administers district-wide curriculum development, transfer and
articulation services, policies and functions associated with partnerships with
K-12 and post-secondary public, private, and international institutions.
Scope
This
position works in the area of academic affairs and student development. Work contacts include faculty, staff, college
and university administrators, governmental offices, legislators, state and
national organizations, students and community and business leaders. Equipment used includes standard office
equipment.
Supervision
Received
This
position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, receives general
direction regarding routine matters and specific instructions regarding
non-routine matters; receives broad instruction as to goals and objectives in area
of responsibility.

Supervises the Director of Curriculum and System Support, Coordinator of
Transfer Articulation, Curriculum Specialists and Technicians, Programmer
Analyst, Systems Maintenance Technician, Special Projects Coordinator,
Administrative Assistant, and other assigned staff.
Provides work direction to faculty and special projects administrators
and staff.
Representative
Duties
Supports
the colleges’ mission on curriculum and articulation development; plans,
administers and implements curriculum development processes, procedures, and
services in partnership with the District Curriculum Committee; plans,
administers, and implements transfer articulation policies, processes, and
services; coordinates the planning, development, implementation and evaluation
of district services and programs for student transfer among post-secondary
institutions; coordinates the negotiation of agreements with other institutions
to expand student transfer options; creates and maintains effective
partnerships with educational institutions on curriculum and articulation;
collaborates with Government Relations on
legislative
agenda affecting MCCD curriculum and transfer
articulation; monitors issues related to K-12 articulation agreements and
pursues alignment as determined by Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs;
coordinates implementation of curriculum and articulation agreements with
student development; conducts evaluations regarding the effectiveness and
impact of articulation agreements; represent MCCD at
state and national organizations related to curriculum and articulation;
represents the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to a variety of
professional, business and governmental groups; serves as chair of the District
Curriculum Committee in the absence of the Vice Chancellor for Academic
Affairs; provides research, assistance, support, advice and counsel to College
Presidents, Vice Presidents, Deans, faculty and staff in the development and
interpretation of curriculum and transfer articulation policies and procedures;
develops and implements curricular technological advancements and coordinates
the management of systems supporting curriculum and articulation; identifies
transfer articulation policies and procedures, oversees curriculum standards
and compliance with state, federal and district regulations; monitors
compliance with transfer articulation agreements; recommends curriculum and
transfer articulation policies and procedures; serves as District liaison with
national, international, regional, state and local organizations for the
purpose of planning, evaluation and articulation of student transfer; serves as
the district liaison with public, private and international post-secondary
institutions to facilitate seamless student transfer; develops long and short
range plans and objectives; prepares and manages operational budgets;
facilitates conferences, training, workshops and develops, prepares and
delivers oral and written presentations; collaborates with colleges on
development of curriculum and articulation business processes and procedures;
interprets policy; evaluates and reports on date curriculum and transfer data
and makes recommendations for planning and direction; collaborates with
colleges and representatives to develop and publish catalog common pages;
supervises, trains and evaluates assigned staff; performs related duties as
assigned.

traditional and non-traditional education; appropriate policies, guidelines and
statutes governing transfer; data collection, evaluation, and interpretation;
practices in the provision of seamless student transfer; state transfer articulation
policies and procedures; principles and practices of management.
Ability to:
plan and coordinate the activities of a complex program with a wide range of
administrators and faculty; assess changing needs related to curriculum,
articulation and transfer students, and develop responsive
policies/procedures/programs as needed; represent the Vice Chancellor as
appropriate and required; interact and influence a wide range of internal and
external constituencies; develop and implement budgets; manage assigned staff
in planning and delivering services; communicate effectively orally and in
writing; establish cooperative working relationships in the course of
performing assigned duties.
Training
and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the
required knowledge and abilities. An example of this
would be a college degree in education and extensive experience in
administration of an educational development program in the areas of transfer
articulation, curriculum, non-traditional education or academic affairs. Master’s degree required.
Special
Conditions of Employment
Requires local, state, and national travel. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
