Job Summary
Develops and administers the educational programs/services
in an assigned area of a college within existing policies and regulations. Serves
as a college representative in working with the community to meet student
needs.
Scope
This position works in an assigned area of a college and
provides assistance to the administrative team in all areas of the overall
assigned College services. The Dean has operational responsibility and
authority to oversee all aspects of the program/service. Work contacts include
administrators, faculty, staff, the public, local and national organizations,
other educational institutions and vendors. Equipment used includes standard
office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to a Vice President or other assigned
administrator; receives direction related to college goals and objectives.
Supervision Exercised
Depending on
location/department, may supervise Associate Deans, Directors, Managers, Coordinators and/or other assigned staff. Provides leadership to other college staff
such as counselors, advisors and other functional areas.
Representative Duties
Plans, directs and evaluates programs/services for a
specified area at a college which may include an area such as occupational
education, continuing education, learning resources, administrative services,
financial aid, registration and records, enrollment or information
technologies; directs the operational services which include preparation,
recommendation and administration of an assigned area's operating budget;
develops, supports and maintains liaison relationships with business, industry,
health and community partners; serves as college representative in working with
agencies who provide services to colleges; maintains liaison with college
public relations officer and reviews materials to publicize programs and
services through different medias; recommends capital equipment expenditures;
coordinates tracking systems, data collection, analysis and follow‑up;
keeps abreast of compliance and reporting standards with State, federal and
district regulations; develops and administers policies pertaining to the
overall college records function for student, college and statistical purposes;
responsible for security and confidentiality of assigned property; designs,
implements, markets and assesses a college‑wide program unrelated to
operational area of responsibility; provides policy development, long-range
strategic planning, program design and program management; develops, implements
and assesses processes for the program; oversees and participates in proposal
writing and contact with national organizations in order to seek additional
funding; administers external grants; maintains liaison with related national
organizations and networks; collaborates with local and national networks to
devise innovative program concepts; supervises assigned staff; performs related
duties as assigned.

and government regulations; staff development; program development; local,
regional and national organizations; budget preparation; strategic planning.

to: plan, direct and evaluate student services; assess community needs and
develop responsive programs; research and compile databases; supervise faculty
and staff; conduct strategic planning; organize, prioritize and coordinate work
of others; prepare, recommend and administer budgets; communicate effectively
verbally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with
persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree and experience in community
college student programs, curriculum development or management. Master's degree
required.
