TITLE:  DIRECTOR INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT & ENTREPRENURIAL PROGRAMS

Job Summary

 

Plans, develops, and administers the college’s institutional advancement and entrepreneurial programs and services. Directs activities of the college advancement departments including internal and external communications, fundraising, marketing (including web marketing), Call Center operations, public relations, special events, alumni relations, recruitment, and public-private entrepreneurial development and services.


Scope

 

This position works in an assigned area. Work contacts include College Presidents, administrators, staff, alumni, members of the college-wide community advisory committee(s), and the community. Equipment used includes stand office equipment.

 

Supervision Received

 

This position reports to a College President, Vice Chancellor Resource Development and Community Relations, or an assigned administrator; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters and specific instructions regarding non routine matters.


Supervision Exercised

 

This position supervises the assigned staff.


Representative Duties

 

Coordinates and implements fundraising activities; prepares the college to receive gifts and grants in congruence with mission; directs the college’s marketing and public relations activities and all written publications/materials designed to transmit the college’s image to prospective students and the community; supervises media relations activities; prepares and recommends policies and procedures; planning, organization, and administration of the college institutional advancement activities; maintains liaison relationship with external media and the community; speaks at public meetings on issues pertaining to the college; collects and analyzes data regarding program and college relations trends; may direct and manage college recruitment, college website, Call Center efforts; plans, initiates, and manages public-private partnerships and entrepreneurial programs and services including prospecting, negotiations, bid development, serves as liaison for contractual agreements with external agencies; develops public-private partnerships; develops and implements appropriate policies and procedures for entrepreneurial services; serves as consultant to the campus with respect to entrepreneurial management and policy; manages special projects; participates on community committees and task forces; administers budget; may serve as Vice President for Development for the Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation; performs related duties as assigned.


Knowledge and Abilities

 

Knowledge of: marketing, fundraising, institutional planning and research, public relations, entrepreneurial development, web, recruitment, Call Center expertise, public-private partnerships, contract policies and staff development, budget preparation, community college philosophy and administration.

 

Ability to: make effective oral and written presentations; represent the college to a wide variety of constituencies; manage and coordinate diverse staff functions; communicate effectively orally and in writing, work collaboratively with peers, subordinates and supervisors; maintain positive relations with the media and community leaders; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.


Training and Experience

 

Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in education, administration, behavioral or social sciences, or communications with extensive experience in institutional advancement activities at the college or university level.

This position requires evenings and weekend hours. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
