Job Summary


Plans, organizes, directs, administers and evaluates the Maricopa Health Care Integrated Educational System (HCIES) of the District to coordinate the health care career education throughout the District and serve as a liaison between the Colleges and the health care industry.

 

Scope


This position works in the area of academic and student development and provides assistance in all areas related to the administration and management of the HCIES.  Work contacts include faculty, staff, administrators, students, consultants, local, State and national agency representatives, business and industry, community organizations, state and national accrediting and credentialing agencies and the public.  Equipment used includes standard office equipment.

 

Supervision Received


This position reports to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs; receives general direction regarding routine and standard matters; specific instructions regarding non‑routine and sensitive matters.

 

Supervision Exercised


Supervises the positions of Director Community Services/Continuing Education, Director ICAN, Manager Healthcare Education Research & Evaluation, Programmer Analyst II, Administrative Secretary and/or other assigned staff.

 

Representative Duties


Administers, plans, manages and evaluates the operational functions of the Maricopa HCIES of the District, in conjunction with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; administers the development of the budget; assists in the development of operational specifications and planning for the HCIES; coordinates clinical sites for all college allied health and nursing programs; oversees the HCIES single‑learner records system and compilation of information and other related software; works with health care professional accreditation and credentialing boards and agencies; coordinates the HCIES Evaluation program and disseminates evaluation findings as appropriate; coordinates the health care workforce annual forecasting process; assists and supports college nursing and allied health program directors; works with faculty, staff and administrators to resolve issues; represents the District at internal and external meetings, events and functions; coordinates internal programs, health care competency assessment and advanced placement of students, community continuing education, faculty and staff development; keeps abreast of and adheres to state statutes related to the practice of regulated health care professions; maintains liaison with county, state, federal agencies and business and industry partners, health care providers, universities and public school partners including high schools and the community; performs special projects assigned by the Vice Chancellor; facilitates the development and implementation of long and short range programs and services; coordinates instructional activities, programs and offerings with a variety of faculty, staff, administrators, departments, colleges, business and industry, community agencies and the public; develops and submits annual reports; makes presentations, to business and industry, community agencies and professional organizations; performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: management and program development; current practices in the health care arena; operational and instructional support; student services; community, university and high school health care programs; assessment and evaluation concepts; principles and theories of strategic and operational planning; budget development and administration; local, regional, national health care accreditation and credentialing; collaborative strategies for diverse groups/populations.

 

Ability to: coordinate complex projects with numerous participants; supervises assigned staff, special project directors and consultants; coordinate diverse operations; make effective public presentations; lead through collaboration; organize, prioritize and coordinate the work of others; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the course of performing assigned duties.

 

Training and Experience


Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities.  An example of this would be a college degree in an allied health discipline or nursing and a current recognized health care profession's credential and demonstrated experience in administrative and fiscal operations.

 

Special Conditions of Employment



Working Conditions


Position will require local travel among the colleges and the community. Must be able to attend meetings, events and functions on evenings and weekends. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
