Job Summary
Plans, coordinates and provides leadership for national and
district teacher education programs and services to meet student and employer
needs.
Scope
This position works in the area of academic affairs and
student development. Work contacts include school, college and university
faculty, staff and administrators, public representatives, government officials,
state and national organizations and foundations and community and business
leaders.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Vice Chancellor Academic
Affairs & Student Development; receives broad direction to goals and
objectives.
Supervision Exercised
Supervises the positions of Director Special Programs,
Administrative Assistant and/or assigned staff.
Representative Duties
Coordinates the planning, development, implementation and
evaluation of national and district services and programs for K-12 teacher
education; provides technical assistance, support, advice and counsel to the
Vice Chancellor, Teacher Education Partnership Commission, College Presidents,
Vice Presidents, faculty and staff in the development and funding of teacher
education programs and partnership agreements; serves as district
liaison/representative with national, regional, state and local organizations
for purposes of planning, development and evaluation of teacher education
programs and services; maintains close contact and serves as district
liaison/representative with public and private post-secondary institutions to
facilitate seamless student transfer in teacher education; maintains close
working relationship with business, community, government, League for Innovation,
university and college leaders to develop new programs and services for teacher
education; develops long and short range plans and objectives for teacher
education; coordinates research activities for projects; prepares and manages
operational budgets; facilitates conferences and forums; develops, prepares and
delivers oral and written presentations; participates in a variety of district
and local committees an task forces; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: local, state and national K-12 teacher
education issues; current and innovative practices in the provision of teacher
education programs and services; public school and community college
administration; learning and instructional theories and applications;
curriculum development; principles and practices of management.
Ability to: plan and coordinate the activities of a national
program with a wide range of school, business and community and government
leaders; assess changing needs of teacher education students and develop
responsive programs and services as needed; develop and implement budgets;
communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish cooperative working
relationships in the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in education and extensive
experience in administration of an educational development program in the areas
of K-12 education, curriculum development or academic affairs. Master’s degree
required.
Special Conditions of Employment
Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
