Job Summary
Directs, evaluates, implements and resolves complex community relation issues. Provides research strategies and collaboration to both internal and external community on behalf of the Office of the Chancellor in matters dealing primarily but no exclusively with capitol planning and development.
Scope
This position works in the area of Capitol Planning. Work contacts include the Chancellor, Vice Chancellors, College Presidents, administrators, business, community, government leaders and the public. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position supervises assigned staff and provides consultative advice to a variety of administrators throughout the district.

Representative Duties
Develops and implements operational and capital plans; plans, directs
and leads a variety of internal and external committees, task forces and
organizations relevant to District interests; performs speaking engagements to
community on behalf of the Chancellor; performs fact-finding and
troubleshooting activities in areas of special interest to the Chancellor and
the District; acts as a liaison between the Chancellor and District
staff; evaluates and recommends legislative strategies for state and
federal initiatives; negotiates for District in complex and sensitive issues;
organizes special events; represents the Chancellor to a variety of business,
professional, community and governmental groups, including local, regional,
national and international economic development efforts, the Chamber of
Commerce, Joint Committee for Capitol Review (JCCR), and special interest
groups; keeps abreast of governmental, community affairs relevant statutes and
legislation that impact or are of interest to the District and provide
strategies to the Chancellor; may develop new programs to be turned over
to operating units; prepares and/or reviews correspondence and speeches for the
Chancellor; assists in preparation and monitoring of Chancellor's budget;
supervises assigned staff; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: federal/state legislation; strategic and capital
planning; design and construction; basic principles of general business,
general accounting, and business law; business ethics; partnership strategies;
educational, cultural, political, governmental and public relation issues
relevant to accomplish the district's mission; District structure and
processes; local, regional, national and international community, business and
government organizations.
Ability to: represent
the District and the Chancellor and influence a wide range of internal and
external constituencies; lead events and activities within the District and the
community; analyze and resolve operating and public relations issues and
develop appropriate strategies/recommendations; communicate effectively orally
and in writing; and establish working relationships with persons contacted in
the course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the
required knowledge and abilities. An example of this would be a college
degree in Public Administration or related field and/or extensive professional
experience in public administration or related field in an educational
environment involving significant contact with the public and negotiations.
Special Conditions of Employment
Must be able to attend events on evenings and weekends. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
