Job Summary
Plans and coordinates the District's provision of business
and workflow development programs to meet student and employer needs and
promotes District colleges to industry.
Scope
This position works in the area of business and workforce
development. Work contacts include
administrators, faculty, staff, students and representatives of business and
industry, government agencies and the community. Equipment used includes standard office equipment.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Vice Chancellor Academic &
Student Development; receives broad instruction as to goals and objectives in
area of responsibility.
Supervision Exercised
Supervises the positions of Coordinator Career &
Re-entry Services, Economic Development Specialist, Occupational Program
Specialist, Office Coordinator, Administrative Assistant and/or other assigned
staff.
Representative Duties
Coordinates the planning, development, maintenance,
implementation and evaluation of occupational programs in the District;
provides technical assistance, support, advice and counsel to College
Presidents, Vice Presidents, faculty and staff in the development, funding and
budgeting of occupational education programs; serves as District liaison with
national, regional, state and local agencies and organizations in the area of
occupational education and economic development; manages the business and
economic development research processes; analyzes student and labor market
characteristics to develop responsive training programs; evaluates programs;
maintains liaison with local employers for purposes of planning, evaluation and
student placement assistance; oversees articulation of District occupational
education programs with high schools and universities; facilitates conferences
and makes oral and written presentations relative to occupational education;
coordinates development of the District's position statements on legislation
pertaining to occupational education; coordinates development of the master
plan for occupational education; facilitates curriculum development,
instructional design and delivery, equipment and facilities related to business
and development; oversees the resources development to locate opportunities for
funding; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge
of: local and regional economic development issues, training needs of business
and industry; curriculum development and instructional design; current
practices in the provision of occupational education in community colleges;
principles and practices of management.
Ability
to: conduct long‑range planning relative to economic development and
industry training needs; coordinate programs with a wide range of
administrators, community and business leaders; supervise assigned staff; make
oral and written presentations; negotiate and communicate effectively;
establish cooperative working relationships with persons contacted in the
course of performing assigned duties.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in human resources
training, instructional design or related field and/or professional experience
in the planning and coordination of occupational education programs to meet
employer needs.
Special Conditions of Employment
Out‑of‑town travel may be required. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
