TITLE: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR NATIONAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE CHAIR

Job Summary
Plans and administers the chair academy’s leadership program
and services offered to community and technical colleges worldwide.
Scope
This position works in the area of the Chair Academy. Work contacts include administrators,
faculty and staff from educational institutions worldwide, as well as
professional organizations and associations.
Equipment used includes standard office equipment, various visual
equipment including digital, video cameras, and data projectors.
Supervision Received
This position reports to a College President and receives
broad direction related to the Chair Academy goals and objectives.
Supervision Exercised
This position supervises administrators, faculty, and
staff.
Representative Duties
Directs the implementation of policies, programs and
services in the operational and educational activities of the Chair Academy;
creates, plans, organizes, evaluates, and administers the programs, activities,
and services to meet a variety of instructional and administrative leadership
needs (includes providing programs and services in multiple locations throughout
the world and through diverse technologies); develops and recommends long and
short range goals and objectives;
supervises assigned staff; develops and recommends the Academy’s budget to the
College President; administers the budget; coordinates management and staff
professional development efforts; administers and oversees the development of a
wide variety of leadership programs, services, and membership journal; oversees
an International Exchange Program for Leaders in Education; conducts an annual
international conference; implements leadership training programs worldwide;
participates on a variety of local college committees and national boards;
develops and maintains liaison relationships with Academy partners worldwide;
administers and oversees the development of a comprehensive marketing and
strategic plan; identifies, coordinates, trains, and supervises internal and
external personnel worldwide to serve as leadership program facilitators;
serves as a member of the college senior management team; performs related
duties as assigned or delegated by the College President or Academy’s
International Board of College Chief Executive Officers.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: current practices and theories in educational
leadership; administration of community college management, administrative
practices and polices; college instructional programs, and related support
services and activities; curriculum program and organizational development
policies and practices; publishing a juried journal; designing and coordinating
an International Exchange Program for Leaders in Education; the use of
technology in teaching and learning; strategic planning; performance
management.
Ability to: assess changing community and technical college
educational leadership training needs; develops responsive training programs
and practices; hire, train, and supervise faculty and administrators from
colleges worldwide; make decisions in cooperation with a College President and
International Board of College Chief Executive Officers; direct all activities
of assigned organizational operations through subordinate faculty and
administrators; prepare and monitor budgets; strategic organizational plans;
research, develop and implement marketing and assessment plans; communicate
effectively orally and in writing; make effective public presentations;
establish cooperative working relationship with persons contacted in the course
of performing assigned studies.
Training and Experience
Any combination of education, training and experience that
provides the required knowledge and abilities.
An example of this would be a college degree in Education and/or
experience in community college teaching, curriculum development and management.
Special Conditions of Employment
Ability to travel frequently both within and outside the
United States. Some positions may require a Class D Driver’s License.
