The Center for Curriculum & Transfer Articulation, in accordance with the Governing Board Guidelines on Transfer Articulation, have identified the following factors when developing an articulation agreement:
- Quality of the Institution -- Does the degree granting institution have accreditation or candidacy status with a regionally accredited agency? For international institutions, has a responsible governing body of the country’s government assessed the institution and has it met or exceeded the defined standards of excellence in education as set forth by that governing body?
- Need -- Does the degree granting institution have a significant number of students with Maricopa credit who have transferred into that institution or are currently enrolled?
- Faculty Recommendations and Involvement -- Is there faculty support from a Maricopa college or Instructional Council? Does the institution have flexible programs that complement Maricopa’s degrees?
- Feasibility -- Is the degree granting institution a viable option for students in terms of cost and financial aid opportunities, accessibility, residency requirement, geographic location and delivery options?
- Institutions Affiliations/Partnerships -- Is the degree granting institution affiliated with organizations or associations that support the community college system (e.g., League for Innovation Partner), or does it have formal partnerships with other post-secondary institutions (i.e., community colleges, universities, etc.)?
- Mission/Values - Does the agreement support Maricopa's mission, institutional values, and Maricopa's Governing Board Goals?
- Seamless Transfer - Is the baccalaureate degree institution committed to the concepts of seamless transfer and student success? Additionally, do they embrace the principle that transfer students should maximize the credits as much as possible and should not be required to repeat competencies already achieved?
