ASU’s General Studies Policies and Procedures call for mandatory review of existing General Studies courses every three years, to verify that they continue to meet the requirements of the appropriate Core and/or Awareness area(s). Below is the IC’s role in the Mandatory Review process:
- Maricopa Faculty General Education Representative contacts the IC, and asks them to identify an IC Member to prepare the proposal.
- IC Member reviews the Maricopa General Studies procedures, and downloads the appropriate forms.
- For new General Studies (GS) designations, the IC Chair responsible for the GS designation signs the proposal.
- The initiator submits the proposal to his/her campus Curriculum Technician or IDF.
- The Maricopa Faculty General Education Representative obtains copies of proposal from the curriculum technician. The proposal is submitted to ASU for review.
- Once a decision is made, the Maricopa Faculty General Education Representative contacts the appropriate parties regarding the outcome of the review.
