Instructional Councils (ICs) consist of Maricopa Community College faculty members from specific disciplines who develop curriculum, monitor curriculum, make recommendations to the District Curriculum Committee, and approve or disapprove General Studies proposals. Every college offering the curriculum is entitled to membership on the IC, which serves as an important recommending body. ICs are internal to Maricopa.
Articulation Task Forces (ATFs) are statewide group of faculty members who represent their institution and their discipline. The ATF provides Arizona’s public community colleges and universities with a forum to cooperatively exchange articulation information on a timely basis. The issues discussed and the decisions and recommendations made by the ATF may directly influence student transfer. See the ATF Handbook for the current list of ATFs.
Where the two groups connect:
- Membership – Where there is an established ATF, IC members serve as ATF members.
- Curriculum Planning and Alignment For Transfer Programs – ATF Information may influence direction and decisions of an IC.
- Transfer and Articulation Issues – ICs should
bring issues that affect statewide transfer to the designated
ATF.
