Maricopa Faculty Representatives
Maricopa Faculty Serving on ASU Curriculum Committees

For more than 20 years, the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD) and Arizona State University (ASU) have had a collaborative agreement to have cross-institutional representation related to curriculum development.  Maricopa faculty members have served on numerous ASU curriculum committees during this time; in turn, ASU has had a representative on Maricopa’s District Curriculum Committee.  As of Fall 2007, there are a total of 20 ASU curriculum committees representing all of the schools and colleges across the university’s four locations:  Tempe, West, Polytechnic, and Downtown.

Maricopa’s Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs has the responsibility to appoint faculty to the ASU curriculum committees.  The process is facilitated and supported by the Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation (CCTA) on behalf of the Vice Chancellor.  Recruitment of Maricopa faculty representatives occurs each Spring semester.  The CCTA Director sends an email to the relevant Instructional Councils requesting that they recommend two to three individuals to be considered for appointment to an ASU Council or Committee.  The names are forwarded to the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs who makes the final appointments for the following Fall semester.  College Vice Presidents of Academic Affairs will be informed about faculty members from their colleges who have been appointed.

  • Communicate Instructional Council(s) feedback to the appropriate ASU campus.
  • Distribute outcomes of the ASU meeting with the appropriate Instructional Council and the Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation.
  • Communicate curriculum and articulation issues to staff in the Center for Curriculum and Transfer Articulation.
