Instructional Council Handbook

Welcome from the Vice Chancellor

Dear Instructional Council Members,

Welcome to the new Instructional Council (IC) Guide! The development of this web site and guide was recommended by the District Curriculum Committee Ad Hoc Work Group in Spring 2005. I am delighted to present the work of a dedicated group of faculty who worked during the Summer 2005 to produce the guide. The purpose for the IC Guide is to provide policies, guidelines, services, and resources to support the Maricopa’s Instructional Councils.

Instructional Councils are a significant faculty component of the District-wide Curriculum, Articulation and General Education policies and processes. Your role as an IC member is vital because you influence and impact these essential areas. ICs are called upon throughout the entire continuum from the inception of courses and programs through the finished process, which include course equivalencies and articulated programs.

Please accept my sincerest thanks for taking on the responsibility as an IC member. I hope that you find these resources helpful as you engage in these critical roles and responsibilities. Your dedicated efforts toward the teaching and learning process translate to the continuing success of Maricopa Community College students. The staff of the Academic Affairs Division and I are committed to serve and support the ICs and the work that you do.

Sincerely,

Maria Harper-Marinick, Ph.D.
Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
