Associate of Arts Degree(AA)

This degree is recommended to students who plan to complete lower division work towards a baccalaureate program. Check here for more information from the main district website Associate of Arts (AA) Degree  Info.

Included in the AA is a 35 credit general education program of study, the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC-A), that fulfills lower-division general education requirements for students planning to transfer to any Arizona public community college or university. For more information check this link: Introduction to the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC)

In addition to the AGEC degrees, we also have the AA - General Requirements (GR) AA- Special Requirements (SR) and the Transfer Partnership (AA) Degree (TPD)   The Transfer Partnership degree is designed to meet the needs of MCCD students transferring to public and private colleges and universities.

All credits used to satisfy the MCCD AGEC will apply to graduation requirements of the university major for which the AGEC was designed, regardless of whether the credit was awarded for completion of course work or for prior learning

There are three catagories of AGEC

  • AGEC-A, intended for liberal arts and other majors
  • AGEC-B, intended for business majors
  • AGEC-S, intended for majors with more stringent mathematics-based science requirements.

The AGEC will transfer as a block to any Arizona public university without a loss of credit and will fulfill all lower division general education requirements for the majors for which they enroll.
