STEP 1: Ask yourself if you are conducting human subjects research.
Here are some questions to help you:
If you answered yes, you are probably doing human subjects research (HSR). You can learn more about the guidelines for human subjects research by completing relevant training.
STEP 2: Before completing HSR training, you need to obtain institutional approval from the college(s) Vice President of Academic Affairs either prior to or concurrent with completing your NIH training.
STEP 3: Complete training on human subjects research.
Maricopa Community College Employees: Complete the online training at http://phrp.nihtraining.com/users/login.php.
If you are not a Maricopa Community College Employee or Student:
PI's and co-PI's are asked to provide a copy of certificate indicating completion of training in human subjects research.
STEP 4: Contact the IRB Coordinator to request an eProtocol login ID.
Contact the IRB Coordinator and request a login ID to access the e-Protocol application system. The IRB Coordinator can be reached at (480) 731–8701, or at irb_office@domail.maricopa.edu. All Principal Investigators and co-Principal Investigators must request a login ID from the IRB Coordinator.
STEP 5: Complete the application form for HSR via eProtocol
Once you have a login ID and password assigned, login to the eProtocol system at http://mcccd.keyusa.net .
Note: When you log in, you will be able to create a new password. Be sure to make a record of your login ID and password so that you can return to the system at a later date.
