Work in advance with your Grants Office (at DO and at your college, as appropriate) on the full grant proposal. Note: the grant proposal is a separate document from the human subjects research (HSR) application. It is the IRB, however, that reviews the HSR application.
1. Complete the online CITI Program Training for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research. (Be sure to enroll under "MCCCD" at the following site: http://www.citiprogram.org/ . There is no charge to Maricopa Employees and Students to enroll.)
2. Complete the Application to Conduct Human Subjects Research.
3. *Be sure to get the approval of the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) at your college on your research application. (Obtain VPAA signature on the hardcopy of the application.)
4. Submit the completed application by "mail" and email to:
Be sure to include all relevant information.
Pay special attention to areas such as: special populations, informed consent, and confidentiality/protection of information.
5. The Office will contact you if additional information is needed or the application is incomplete. (Be sure your contact information is clearly specified on the application.)
6. The Office will inform you of the IRB's decision. (The funding agency will inform you/college of the funding decision.)
7. Be sure to allow ample lead time in submitting your application.
