Submitting Applications for IRB Review in 2008-2009

  1. Be sure to submit fully completed applications. Include all appropriate documentation and signatures. If your application is incomplete, it will delay the review of your proposed research or project.

These are key areas where applications have been incomplete, so pay special attention to provide these:
    1. Complete the online CITI training on Human Subjects Research and include the certificate of completion with your application.
    2. Obtain a signature of institutional support from the appropriate College Vice President of Academic Affairs on the application form. This means the VPAA is willing to have you conduct your research at their college; it does not mean resources or manpower. Their support is subject to IRB approval of your proposed research.
    3. Provide the informed consent document. (It may be a cover letter, it may be a form that subjects are asked to “sign”, depending on your project.)
  2. If you need help, contact your College Research Review Committee (CRRC) Chair, IRB Chair or the IRB Office. See IRB website for Resource Persons. http://www.maricopa.edu/irb/
  3. The IRB will make every effort to review as many applications as reasonable but yet enable a full/thorough review. Allow ample time. Reviews are on a first-come, first-serve basis. (Note: many universities with large demand suggest a 2 month period, prior to the start of your project. We are currently requesting a lead time of two (2) weeks. As demand grows, this lead time may change.)
