Support for Legacy BDS this past year included Y2K work and modification to support additional unit codes. These projects required about half of Frank Tulken’s time.
After many years of a start and stop process searching for a commercial product to fit the needs of Maricopa, a cross-functional and cross-departmental team has been formed to build a system specific to Maricopa. A Steering Team and a Project Team (Jason Pociask, Tom Gleason, John Taylor and Debbie Thompson) have been formed and meetings held to determine the requirements for a new system. Consultants from Raymond James Consulting have assisted in the requirements capture and evaluating the project. The Project team has gone through 70 days of PeopleSoft training in preparation for development of the system using PeopleTools at a cost of $24,500 in tuition and $8010 in travel and per diem. PeopleTools was selected to assure a similar user interface to HR and Student, and to leverage the information existing in HR and the PeopleSoft workflow system. The team is anticipating the new system going live in July 2000. More information about the Budget Development System at Maricopa during the 1998-1999 fiscal year is available. The Budget Development System project has a website as well.
