Library Technical Services

Contruction AreaThe New Era began with the increasing emphasis on electronic information services and the bibliographic work. These daily activities were interspersed with exploration and learning to be ready for future changes. In looking at the daily work of Library Technical Services, the team procured, cataloged, and made shelf-ready most library materials for the District's libraries. During 1999-2000, this group processed nearly 11,000 orders and over 3700 subscription requests, cataloged nearly 17,000 new items, and maintained the libraries' union catalog to ensure accessibility to these resources. This group also supported public and educational library material requests from across the United States, processing nearly 4,000 interlibrary loan requests for materials held by Maricopa libraries, and dispatching over 900 requests from Maricopa students and staff.

The clean up of the library bibliographic database neared completion with a successful application for grant funds from the Arizona State Library. This area will be under construction from this day forward.

More detailed information about Library Technical Services at Maricopa during the 1999-2000 fiscal year is available. Library Technical Services has a website as well. Monthly status reports about Maricopa Online are available on the ITS Status Report System.
