New Student Email Service Powered by Google
MCCCD officially launched a new student email service, powered by Google, on July 13 of 2009. These email accounts will be used to communicate important MCCCD business to all active students. Additionally, students will have access to college RSS feeds and Google applications for collaborative use in the classroom and with authentication based upon the same student ID and password used to access the MCCCD Student Information and Enterprise Blackboard systems. Additional information with self-help resources and FAQ's can be found on the GoogleApps@Maricopa link on My.Maricopa.edu.

Populate SOC and OCC Codes
The HRMS Functional and Database Administration teams worked together to populate Federal SOC and OCC occupation codes to facilitate a more detailed EEO reporting capability. These codes are supplied by the federal government to categorize virtually all occupations and job descriptions. They will be used to produce a more thorough Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) analysis and action plan, which can now be facilitated through Hyperion software in the EEO office.

Fiscal Year-End Processing
The Shadow System/Reporting and Institutional Effectiveness groups, Database Administration and Duplicates Data Cleansing teams and A/R departments across MCCCD worked to complete the Fiscal year-end processing. Efforts resulted in zero need for changes and fixes once the year-end snapshot database was generated. The number of FTSE adjustment types increased from 10 to 29 based on the complexity of the PeopleSoft data model. The number of year-end FTSE adjustments accounted for was net plus 14,550 FTSE credit hours and 17,947 total adjustment transactions.

Add Tracking Grid to Self-Service and Manager Training Page
The Employee self-service and Manager Summary training pages were redesigned to facilitate a better presentation of the MCCCD-specific disclosures and required reporting.

Training Reminder Notices
Reminder Notice tracking was rolled out to track mandatory employee training as well as when employees are due to complete the training again.

Message Center Load Testing
The Database Administrators, in conjunction with the DSSC Application Functional users worked together to conduct a performance load test (these metrics are used to tune the system) prior to rolling out the new 4C's modification in the Student Information System (SIS). The 4C's modification (Communications, Checklists and Comments module) allows students to sign into the application and send text messages to administrative staff.

Bundle 20 Student Information System (SIS)
The Database Administrators assisted in the implementation of bundle 20 in the SIS application. These bundles contain mandatory Financial Aid regulations and updated application code.

OS Patches to SIS Database Servers
The Database Administrators supported the Server Administrators with the application of operating system patches to the production SIS servers. Patches are designed to fix problems or update code and can include fixing security vulnerabilities. Support included testing the systems after patches had been applied.

EZproxy
Implemented hosting of EZproxy for DSSC as well as CGCC and SMCC. EZproxy provides remote access to research databases subscribed to by all MCCCD.

Library Technical Services (LTS) Email Notices
LTS now delivers the majority of notices via email. The ability to deliver notices via email has not only reduced the cost of materials but also personal time for the DSSC Operations department. Because of this new feature, all of the MCCCD colleges were able to significantly reduce their mailing costs.
