Getting It Right : Keys To Information Literacy
Key Skill One

Developing Competencies in Information Literacy

To assist you with developing information literacy competencies in your students, the MCCCD librarians, through the work of the Library Instructional Council, have developed this website (also available as a printable brochure) explaining information literacy and its real-life application in the current knowledge-based society. An assessment tool for use with these competencies is available from your home library. It is our hope that you will use both as steps towards working with students to achieve these skills.

Librarians welcome the opportunity to collaborate with you in integrating these competencies into your courses. Contact the Reference Desk at your home library to learn more about partnering with librarians to meet the information literacy competencies of general education requirements.
