The Eight Authors of the Maricopa Project

Anne Dudley
Hi, I’m Anne Dudley! I was born in Phoenix (yes, a true Phoenician) but grew up in St. Louis. I watched the Arch being built, ate Knishes at the Posh Nosh and cheered the Cardinals on to victory. I love the vibrant hum of a big city in motion.

On January 1, 1981, I loaded up my car and drove to sunny Phoenix. Ready for nicer weather and college, I enrolled at Phoenix College. I took every kind of course imaginable, searching for a major. Calculus and Mr. Livermore hooked me. After completing my AA, I went after a BS and an MA at Arizona State University. Along the way I met and married David (who kept me from flunking Real Analysis). I graduated in 1989 and worked for a year at several Maricopa Colleges before being hired full-time at Glendale Community College.

I am a member of AMATYC, MAA, NCTM, ArizMATYC, NOW, AAUP, AAUW…is that enough initials? I’ve organized countless meetings including an AMATYC Southwest Regional in Flagstaff. I’ve been president of ArizMATYC and currently am Treasurer. I’ve won the MAA Southwest Section Distinguished Teaching Award. I currently serve on several boards.

Right now, I am enchanted by the mountains in northern Arizona. Whenever possible, David and I pack up the cats and escape to our cabin just south of the Grand Canyon.
