Conference ReportsSouthWest Regional AMATYC ConferenceAnne Dudley, GCCIf you didn't make it to beautiful Flagstaff for the AMATYC Regional Conference and Standards Workshop, you missed a really great time! About 170 people attended this four day conference at the NAU duBois Center. Twenty-three states were represented, including Alaska and Hawaii. We stayed in the dorms and enjoyed the cool Flagstaff evenings (though the days were a little warm). Highlights of the conference included a talk on the chances of significant
meteor impacts on the Earth by Dr. Ted Bowell of Lowell Observatory followed
by a visit to the observatory. There was a trip to the Grand
Many participants were heardto remark that this was the best conference
that they'd been to in years. If you would like further details talk to

Many folks from throughout Maricopa helped to make the conference a
success. Alan Jacobs (SCC) organized the exhibit hall, Sally Robertson
and Carol Achs (MCC) handled registration, Ann Lindner (SMCC) and Mitzi
Ferrell (PVCC) arranged hospitality, John Grima (GCC) organized the
dorms, Melinda Rudibaugh (CGCC) paid the bills, and David Dudley,
PC, put
